The value of the former land property shall be calculated on the 1940 s so that the local government grants equivalent land to former landowners or their heirs in cities in the cases specified in Section 12 of the Law On Land Reform in the cities of the Republic of Latvia.

The main principle for the acquisition of equivalent land: the former property places equivalent land in the administrative territory of the same city, the current cadastral value of which compensates for its value in 1940 (since 15 February 2008 the cadastral value of the land as it was on 31 December 2007 has been applied to the acquisition of equivalent land).

The value of the former land property on 21 July 1940 shall not be calculated for the currently existing rural areas.
